The Big lebowski
The person who chose this Film was called clive and he told us that he picked the film because he followed the directors carrer and it technically was a cult film but from what i can remember he chose it because he likes the directors who are called the Coen brothers who are two brothers called Ethan coen and Joel coen.
I didn't choose the film but i have just went into who chose the film and why he chose the film.
IN the middle of watching the film i personally think the overall genre of the film is a comedy because to be truthful i did fall asleep during the film but at some parts i did wake up when i heard interesting things and from what i seen some parts were funny an example of this is the ending scene wich was were the Dude was scattering the ashes of the other character and the wind blew the ashes back into the face of the dude that was the only funny sort of thing in the film.
The age rating for the film is 18 because due to the law if there are drugs present on the screen the age rating automatically goes to 18 rated because the film includes illegal usage of drugs.
The film tells the story not that well i got really confused by the actual story were it is technically a parody of the great film nior genre and i just got disgusted by the way the film just ruined the film for that genre for me it just ruined it was overall a disappointing telling of a story i just was not interested for my i have to be hooked in the first 15 minutes if not i just loose intrest in the film and since it was film club i couldn't exactly walk out or turn it off which i would do with any other film if i didn't find the story interesting or the telling of the story in the film. The writers of this film which were the Coen brothers they are good directors but thee writing and the performances just confused be if i had to pick one thing that i just hated was the constant use the word dude its a good word for the modern age but for a guy that age its just sad.
The names of the main characters are the following: Jeffrey Lebowski aka the dude, Walter Sobchak, Maude Lebowski, Theodore Donald 'Donny' Kerabatsos, Jeffrey Lebowski aka The big lebowski.
After watching the film as I said before the movie literally made me fall asleep thats how not interesting it was, it was a total ripoff of film nior which is one of the all time genres and this film was just awful the story was confusing of what parts i heard but i have seen the film before and i didn't really pay that much attention when I first seen it which was in secondary school so i dont really think the writers and directors didn't tell the story well it was just a parody of film nior but a very bad parody.
The film didn't peek my intrest because i did fall asleep so i was wasent interested at all just because it's not really my kind of films i am not that into parodies except for the scary movie franchise if you count that as a parody In my own opinion the best part of the film was the end because i got to leave but also the ashes scene was sort of funny.
I do not think this film was a good choice for film club it does have critically acclaimed directors but this was not one of there good films i would of preferred a much more well known cult film thats actually more age rating as-well what i mean by that is it had a positive drug message and we are in college were some students are 16 and it might send the wrong message but another thing is that again in my own opinion that i dont think its that well known i really would of preffered a much better cult/ critically aclaimed drama such as one of my faviourete films of all time the breakfest club.
Here are two embedded digital video files from the start of the Film Club event with the video tutor, Clive, introducing the film and giving his reasons for choice. This is evidence that I attended the event.

Good spelling and i think that you have put a lot of thought into it.
ReplyDeleteGood comments here James, although don't forget to include evidence of the event by embedding the video of the tutor introducing this film for Film Club. A copy of this is available in the Public Folder.
